Role Overview

The position involves engaging in Field Sales, Internal Sales, and Project Management related to the sizing and application of Material Handling and Auxiliary product lines offered by our client. The role includes assisting with estimating and costing as necessary. The candidate will become proficient in the application of products marketed by the company, providing both pre-sale and post-sale support to clients and team members.

Our client is a prominent global manufacturer specializing in injection molding, auxiliary equipment, and automation solutions, located in central Connecticut. As they expand their workforce, they are seeking a Technical Solutions Engineer to join their team on-site.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assess current and future equipment needs by building relationships with both potential and existing clients. Provide comprehensive product, service, and equipment information by addressing inquiries and requests.
  2. Collaborate with the engineering team to generate or modify system schematics and layouts for each material handling system proposal and order.
  3. Offer additional support to the engineering department for flow schematics and layouts.
  4. Assist the engineering team with mechanical, electrical, and control-related tasks as needed.
  5. Utilize product expertise to accurately size and specify equipment tailored to each customer's application.
  6. Establish and nurture relationships with OEMs and vendors.
  7. Provide insights to the product development team for the creation of new products aimed at enhancing the existing product line. Suggest modifications to current products to improve features, reduce costs, or extend their service life.
  8. Participate in seminars and selected exhibitions where auxiliary products are showcased and presented.
  9. Maintain a customer-centric approach in all interactions with both internal and external stakeholders.
  10. Willingness to travel 10-20% of the time.
  11. Submit expense reports in a professional manner within the designated timeframe.
  12. Complete all bill of materials for sold Material Handling Systems.
  13. Support the sizing of Material Handling Systems.
  14. Conduct application sizing for beside-the-press material handling and auxiliary equipment.
  15. Create and maintain estimate records for current and future reference by engineering and sales teams.

Candidate Profile

  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Familiarity with 2D and 3D drafting software, preferably Solidworks and AutoCAD.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering is preferred.
  • Two to five years of experience in the plastics industry or technical system/machine proposal experience is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary ranging from $65,000 to $80,000.
