Position Overview:
As a Prevention Program Manager within the Division of Medical and Clinical Services, specifically in the HIV/AIDS section, you will collaborate with a committed team of public health professionals focused on the mission of protecting the lives of Georgian residents in various capacities.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Overseeing federally funded programs, ensuring compliance with specific policies, regulations, and guidance while achieving annual program objectives.
  • Drafting new policies, procedures, and guidance for management approval within designated time frames.
  • Facilitating ongoing team meetings and delivering presentations as requested by leadership.
  • Providing direct supervision to various coordinators and maintaining performance management plans, including conducting one-on-one meetings and performance reviews.
  • Submitting federal reports and ensuring timely documentation from designated staff.
  • Representing the HIV Prevention Program in meetings and committees, including quarterly council meetings.
  • Collaborating closely with other managers to integrate and coordinate linkage and retention to HIV treatment and care.
  • Working with data management teams to ensure effective program planning, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Demonstrating leadership through effective communication and active participation in departmental committees.
  • Recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluating staff performance.

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree in operations management, business administration, or a related field, along with four years of managerial or supervisory experience; or eight years of relevant professional experience, including four years in a managerial role.

Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of a Master's degree in Public Health, Social Work, Communication, or a related field, along with four years of experience in human service program planning related to HIV/AIDS. Experience in managing state-level programs and innovative strategies within high-risk communities is highly desirable.

Competencies in oral and written communication, teamwork, leadership, and relationship building with public health staff and stakeholders are essential. Experience in grant writing, contract management, and knowledge of CDC grants and HIV-related programs will be advantageous.

Employment Information:
Current state employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary. The Department of Public Health will verify educational credentials as required. Selected candidates may undergo pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check. This position may close once a satisfactory applicant pool has been identified.
