Position Overview:

The Security Specialist II is responsible for delivering security services through professional and positive engagement with the public, patients, staff, and management. This role involves responding to various calls, assisting in both emergency and non-emergency situations, and documenting safety hazards, incidents, and criminal activities. The specialist will patrol assigned areas to ensure the safety of the public, patients, staff, and property. Accountability to the department's chain of command is essential, as is the ability to demonstrate initiative, sound judgment, and competence in daily tasks and responsibilities. Exceptional customer service and respectful relationships are fundamental to this role. Completion of psychological and physical fitness screenings is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively patrols designated areas and performs all security-related tasks, ensuring compliance with life safety standards.
  • Investigates suspicious activities or individuals and reports any hazards or unusual circumstances to the Security Operations Center.
  • Responds to a variety of events, including high-risk situations such as life-threatening emergencies and natural disasters.
  • Engages in activities beyond standard security operations as authorized by Security Management, which may include body transport from the morgue, patient escorting, and equipment checks.
  • Acknowledges and appropriately responds to emergency, non-emergency, and alarm calls as assigned, using sound judgment to assess situations and provide necessary assistance.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification from the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety.
  • Valid Driver's License in accordance with company policy.
  • Basic Training certification from the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) or equivalent within six months of hire.
  • Must meet departmental testing requirements (Mental, Physical, etc.) as applicable.
