Pay Grade - 18

Annual Compensation Range ($USD): 54,812.00 paid on a bi-weekly basis. Individual pay is determined by the applicable CBA and related articles.

Position Overview
The Construction Project Coordinator is tasked with overseeing the general assessment of construction initiatives to ensure adherence to contractual agreements.

This role may involve: working during weekends, evenings, holidays, and/or varying or extended shifts based on project needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitates construction activities with Airport Tenants, contractors, consultants, and Airport Authority Departments. Aids in the coordination of worksite operations concerning project access and safety. Requests and organizes the response of field inspectors, Airport Authority Departments, and governmental bodies.
  • Coordinates utility inspections on Airport premises as requested by Contractors in collaboration with relevant WCAA Departments.
  • Participates in design and construction meetings alongside contractors, consultants, and project management personnel.
  • Examines and evaluates assigned project documentation and undertakings at Detroit Metro and Willow Run Airports to ensure compliance with Contract Documents, fulfilling Airport Authority, FAA, Stakeholder, and governmental agency standards (including applicable building codes, City, County, and State regulations). Monitors ongoing construction activities.
  • Ensures that contractors adhere to security and safety protocols.
  • Acts as a liaison for contractors, tenants, and other personnel regarding project-related matters. Aids in resolving issues related to assigned projects or contractors by gathering pertinent information.
  • Prepares daily documentation for each construction project, including but not limited to inspection reports, project logs, Requests for Information (RFI), punch lists, invoice verification, and contract closeout documentation.
  • Communicates issues or concerns to the assigned supervisor for guidance and direction.
  • Attends and observes pressure testing of fire and water lines.
  • Participates in final project inspections to ensure that contractors have fulfilled all requirements, including the completion of final punch list items.
  • Conducts visual assessments of Airport properties, utilities, infrastructures, and facilities to identify potential risks, wear, failures, or necessary repairs and replacements. Compiles reports of findings, files work orders, or contacts responsible parties.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Certificate of High School Equivalency; And
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in managing construction contracts, facility maintenance, or within the construction sector.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License and a safe, acceptable driving record.

Special Conditions

Must obtain WCAA Airfield Certification (Movement Area) within the probationary period.

Selection Process

Written examination assessing knowledge of construction and safety practices - 40%

Oral interview - 60%

An overall score of 70% or higher is required to be ranked on the eligibility list.
