Job Summary

Catholic Charities' Refugee Services Program provides comprehensive case management to support refugee self-sufficiency and integration. We are seeking a Refugee English Language Learning Specialist to coordinate classes for refugee clients enrolled in our ESL program at one of our primary sites or online.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate classes for refugee clients enrolled in the ESL program
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for refugee services clients referred to the ESL program
  • Manage and track student registration and enrollment
  • Recruit and manage instructor/volunteer hours
  • Conduct community outreach to ensure target enrollment and refugee students' goals
  • Provide general support to the program, including feedback on instruction performance and working with other instructors on student retention
  • Ensure compliance with agency and grant funding guidelines and procedures
Essential Job Functions
  • Intermediate to proficient knowledge of ESL instruction, curriculum, and teaching techniques
  • Intermediate to proficient knowledge of immigrant and diverse populations and cultures
  • Ability to manage support plans, maintain accurate records, and perform data entry
  • Ability to evaluate student progress and communicate effectively
Physical Requirements

This role requires sitting, standing, walking, talking, and working on a computer. The ability to lift up to 15 pounds is necessary.

Minimum Educational and General Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited college or university
  • Bi-lingual (English-Spanish) candidates are highly preferred. Proficiency in other languages, such as Arabic, Haitian-Creole, French, Ukrainian, Russian, or others, is valued
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse population and sensitivity to the special needs of multicultural immigrant children, adults, and families
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including maintaining effective work relationships
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work across all levels of management and staff
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding all case and client information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and facility with database use are preferred
