Job Summary:

Catholic Charities Refugee Services Program provides comprehensive case management to support refugee self-sufficiency and integration. The Refugee English Language Learning Specialist will coordinate ESL classes for refugee clients at one of our primary sites or online. This role serves as the primary point of contact for refugee services clients referred to the ESL program, managing class coordination, instruction, and volunteer recruitment. The Specialist will track student registration, enrollment, and volunteer hours, as well as conduct community outreach to ensure target enrollment and refugee clients' goals. This position requires a working knowledge of two distinct programs: English as a Second Language and Refugee Services.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate ESL classes for refugee clients, including classroom instruction and management.
  • Administer standardized assessments, complete registration forms, and provide feedback to the program manager.
  • Ensure effective support, guidance, and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement a focused curriculum to support students, particularly at the pre-beginner level.
  • Provide one-on-one support to refugee clients to improve attendance and remove barriers to participation.
  • Assist the ESL Program Manager with student and volunteer file management, testing, and inventory.
  • Respond to inquiries from prospective students and volunteers.
  • Track program effectiveness, ensuring compliance and reporting with grants and agency requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with program staff and maintain confidentiality regarding client information.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Intermediate to proficient knowledge of ESL instruction, curriculum, and teaching techniques.
  • Intermediate to proficient knowledge of immigrant and diverse populations and cultures.
  • Ability to manage support plans, maintain accurate records, and evaluate student progress.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work independently.
Physical Requirements:

This role requires sitting, standing, walking, talking, and working on a computer. The ability to lift up to 15 pounds is necessary.
