GENERAL FUNCTION

The Lead Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in overseeing the architectural design, analysis, configuration, testing, and implementation of large-scale and intricate systems. This position is pivotal in guiding the technical activities of team members and managing project requests. The individual will utilize both new and existing technologies to develop solutions that enhance business value while also architecting and managing the integration of complex systems across all IT functions within EssilorLuxottica.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Facilitates discussions to gather requirements; analyzes data and identifies potential solutions.
  • Maintains comprehensive knowledge of applications and systems that support a web-facing and claims processing environment.
  • Develops and executes tasks outlined in a formal project plan, providing regular updates on progress.
  • Leads technology-driven projects to successful completion.
  • Acts as the technical lead for significant upgrades of systems and software tools.
  • Provides experienced-based work effort estimates to project teams.
  • Serves as the chief architect for the design and development of large systems.
  • Assists in managing the daily operations of the Dev/Ops team alongside their manager.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert in the solutions and tools that constitute the department's technical platforms.
  • Identifies opportunities for leveraging technology to advance business objectives and advocates for these ideas to decision-makers.
  • Serves as a technical advisor to the IT department.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in Information Systems.
  • 4+ years of experience with specific technical platforms or systems.
  • Experience in application architecture with a solid understanding of Java.
  • Strong grasp of the software development life cycle, project management, business process management, requirements definition, functional design, quality management, and change management.
  • Technical proficiency in development tools, platforms, and programming languages.
  • Deep understanding of web application solutions such as Apache, JBOSS, and Tomcat.
  • Experience with SQL or Oracle databases.
  • Familiarity with a scripting language.
  • Experience with cloud-based technologies.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and possess strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Capable of conveying technical concepts to both technical and non-technical team members and users.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Industry experience related to insurance.
  • Ability to cultivate strategic relationships across the organization to achieve business objectives.
  • Experience transitioning from monolithic environments to cloud-based technologies.
Compensation is determined by various factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills, and local minimum wage requirements.
