As the Accounting Advisory Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the accounting processes related to intricate and technical transactions, including Treasury, Accounts Payable, and COPAS, ensuring adherence to US GAAP/FASB reporting standards and the formulation of corporate accounting policies. You will provide recommendations based on evolving reporting and accounting regulations. Your role will also involve the preparation and documentation of accounting and reporting policies and procedures, while assisting management with compliance requirements and staying informed on all relevant accounting and reporting standards that affect the Operational Accounting teams.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess the requirements of the Operational Accounting functions and how the Technical Accounting team can effectively support these needs while advocating for Technical Accounting within the organization.
  • Design and implement accounting policies and procedures that enhance value through risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, automation, and operational efficiency by leveraging best practices in accounting.
  • Utilize modern technology to innovate Accounting operations, enhancing reliability, boosting operational efficiency, and minimizing costs.
  • Convert project documentation, including reports and specific business rules, into technical specifications for development by internal or external teams.
  • Provide training and support to end users and super users regarding SAP as needed.
  • Offer additional support and assistance as required.
  • Collaborate with Business Development on due diligence and other initiatives as necessary.
  • Evaluate accounting processes and controls to enhance efficiency and provide improved information for management decision-making.
  • Work alongside the Technical Accounting Team to optimize and implement new accounting standards and best practices.
  • Build customer trust, commit to enhancing customer satisfaction, set realistic customer expectations, and take responsibility for resolving customer issues.
  • Ensure commitments to business stakeholders are fulfilled, gather insights and suggestions from Finance, Accounting, and Land departments, and respond to inquiries.

  • Adhere to established work schedules, attendance standards, and maintain punctuality for work and meetings.

  • Enhance technical knowledge by participating in educational workshops, reviewing professional literature, establishing networks, and engaging in professional associations.
  • Contribute to team success by achieving related results as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in Upstream Oil and Gas Accounting or related fields, including technical accounting and business analysis.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a technical accounting role, covering General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Cost and Profit Center Accounting (CPA).
  • Experience in providing technical accounting support and training to end users.
  • Ability to manage multiple diverse tasks of varying priorities independently.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year university or college, focusing on Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
