Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is looking for a detail-oriented, professional, and results-driven individual to take on the role of Child Welfare Support Specialist. Under direct supervision, this position involves traveling with Child Protection Specialists to assist in investigating reports of child abuse and neglect. The role includes supporting the Child Protection Specialist during interviews with children and families in various settings. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about child welfare and eager to contribute to the safety of children. Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist as a Child Welfare Support Specialist.
  2. Observe children and report any concerning behaviors to the Child Protection Specialist regarding their mental, social, and overall health.
  3. Inform clients about available services through DCFS and affiliated agencies.
  4. Maintain accurate automotive records and documentation, including mileage, maintenance, and expenses.
  5. Perform additional duties as assigned that fall within the scope of the responsibilities outlined above.
Minimum Qualifications

Requires a combination of education, training, or experience that provides knowledge, skills, and mental development equivalent to either the completion of four years of high school or two years of experience working with culturally diverse populations in a social welfare setting.

Conditions of Employment
  1. Must be able to travel as required for the position. A valid driver's license, daily access to a vehicle, and proof of insurance are necessary.
  2. Must successfully pass a background check.
  3. Must be available to work in a 24-hour on-call capacity.

Work Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
