This role requires prompt responses to emergencies, codes, and alarms, while observing and enforcing policies to maintain the safety of patients, visitors, staff, and property. The specialist will ensure security across assigned areas and campus, as needed, and will manage pedestrian and vehicular traffic during emergencies.
This position serves as a visible deterrent to crime and suspicious activities in various locations, including public and non-public areas. The specialist will conduct patrols, provide escorts on hospital grounds, and respond to service calls, documenting incidents in the security activity reporting system. It is essential that all reports accurately reflect the events of the shift and are completed promptly.
The role also involves documenting violations of hospital policies and reporting them to security leadership. The specialist will utilize investigative skills for written incident reports and apply knowledge of security principles and practices. A commitment to the safety of staff and patients is paramount, including the appropriate use of force when necessary. The specialist will contribute to safety plans, advocate for safe practices, and keep leadership informed as needed. Additional technical duties may be required to support hospital operations.
Position Pay Range: $23.00-$27.73/hour
In compliance with the California Pay Transparency Act, Scripps Health provides the pay range for all positions. Actual compensation will be determined based on relevant experience and internal equity within the specified range. Please note that this range applies to employees residing in California only, and a geographical pay differential may be considered for remote employees living out of state. Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Must possess a California State Guard Card through the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association (AHA). Must hold an active California Driver's License. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.Preferred Qualifications:
At least one year of prior experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field. An Associate's degree. Completion of POST PC 832 Laws of Arrest training.-
