**Position Overview**

The Safety and Security Specialist is a part-time, hourly role that reports directly to the Director of Security & Transportation. This position is essential for safeguarding the venue and ensuring the safety of all visitors, staff, and vendors.

**Key Responsibilities**
  • Monitor and manage surveillance systems, access control, and fire alarm protocols.
  • Screen all venue visitors and contractors, confirming proper credentials to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the venue to ensure a secure environment for employees, contractors, and guests.
  • Identify and address immediate safety and security concerns; respond to incidents and act as an emergency first responder when necessary.
  • Serve as the primary responder to alarms, medical emergencies, and property damage, maintaining confidentiality on sensitive matters.
  • Document all activities and incidents accurately, ensuring effective communication of relevant information to subsequent shifts.
  • Complete all necessary logs, reports, and documentation in a clear and timely manner.
  • Perform screening of individuals and packages in accordance with venue policies.
  • Conduct thorough internal investigations into incidents and provide detailed, objective reports.
  • Participate in briefings and training sessions to stay informed about venue policies and upcoming events.
  • Welcome all clients, employees, guests, and vendors in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Adhere to established security protocols and procedures consistently.
  • Represent the organization positively and professionally at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
  • High school diploma or GED; two years of relevant experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in large public venues is highly preferred. Training in criminal justice or security from a recognized institution is desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with all levels of personnel and the public.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in English, both spoken and written; proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in email and Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn various software applications.
  • Prior experience in law enforcement or public safety is advantageous.
  • Exhibit a high degree of discretion, integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
  • Consistent, punctual, and regular attendance is required.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Strong collaborative skills to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Possession of BSIS Security Guard certifications is a plus.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to navigate various areas of the venue for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • As a condition of employment, candidates must successfully complete a background check and a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
