Position Summary: This advanced role involves the independent evaluation of intricate credit information and financial documents within strict deadlines to assess the risk associated with extending credit or financing, applicable to both new loans and renewals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess the financial health of applicants seeking commercial loans with moderate oversight. Analyze and interpret financial statements of borrowers and potential clients, identifying risks, evaluating collateral, and calculating cash flow while adhering to Loan Policy requirements.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of financial statements, compute relevant ratios, and propose loan structures that align with policy and repayment sources. This role typically handles more complex evaluations autonomously.
  • Request and analyze credit reports from recognized credit agencies, responding to inquiries regarding both borrowing and non-borrowing commercial accounts in accordance with RMA guidelines.
  • Support the training of junior analysts on departmental systems and procedures, providing assistance for complex assignments as needed.
  • Engage in customer interactions as part of the information-gathering process, demonstrating professional expertise.
  • Review appraisals for transactions below a specified threshold.
  • Assist the Credit Manager in generating quarterly compliance reports and various reports concerning the bank's commercial portfolio for external stakeholders.
  • Exhibit advanced knowledge of PeoplesBank's Credit Policy, along with its loan products and services.
  • Complete all required compliance training and adhere to bank, federal, and state regulations, ensuring alignment with bank policies and procedures.

Qualifications: To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each essential duty effectively. The qualifications listed below reflect the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

Education and Experience: A Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or Accounting is required, along with a minimum of two years of relevant experience in underwriting commercial and industrial (C&I) and commercial real estate (CRE) loans.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in calculating complex financial figures, including discounts and interest projections.
  • Ability to draft loan presentations, business correspondence, and procedural documentation.
  • Effective communication skills to present information and address inquiries from colleagues, management, and clients.
  • In-depth understanding of commercial credit products, market trends, and loan procedures.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and the capability to work independently.
  • Strong time management, communication, and multitasking abilities.
  • Research skills to analyze financial topics and produce accessible reports for diverse audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, fostering strong client and business relationships.
  • Commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of client and business information.

Technical Skills: Proficient in computer applications such as Word and Excel, with the adaptability to learn additional software systems utilized by the Credit Department.
