Nuclear Medicine Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at Mass General Brigham. As a key member of our imaging department, you will be responsible for performing clinical diagnostic molecular imaging testing, including general and positron studies, as well as computed tomography imaging.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare radiopharmaceuticals from commercially available kits and/or recipes for use in patient studies.
- Assure quality control of radiopharmaceuticals, including calibration, chemical purity checks, radionuclide purity checks, percent yield, and instant thin layer chromatography.
- Determine radiopharmaceuticals to be utilized based on established guidelines and consult with physicians as necessary.
- Administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients and complete testing, including general, cardiac, and positron studies.
- Perform intra-venous peripheral catheter insertion as authorized by Nuclear Medicine physicians.
- Complete testing for outpatients within Cardiology and acquire, process, and reconstruct images as necessary.
- Label patient images with relevant data, including radiopharmaceutical amount, time of injection, equipment utilized, and additional patient study-related information.
- Archive patient data to PACS for long-term storage and retrieve appropriate patient studies for review and comparison with previous studies.
- Observe radiation safety techniques, including the use of protective shielding and handling and disposal of radiopharmaceuticals.
- Ensure correct protocol, radiation dose, and contrast are administered to patients for CT scanning, when ordered.
- Lift, move, transport, and position patients for diagnostic studies.
- Follow institutional and departmental guidelines for patient safety and patient care.
- Interface with computer systems related to duties of the position, including scheduling responsibilities through dedicated EMR systems.
- Alert Operations Manager regarding equipment problems, problems encountered during testing, and other relevant issues.
- Assist in on-the-job training of students as assigned.
- Follow area policies and guidelines to perform imaging studies of superior technical quality.
- BS degree in NM Technology preferred or BS in unrelated field with a certificate in NM Technology preferred.
- Radiologic technologist (Nuclear Medicine) in the state of Massachusetts.
- ARRT or NMTCB certification.
- 1-2 years of experience, with recent graduates considered.
