Job Opportunity

Cocoon House is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Youth Counselor to join our team. As a Residential Youth Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and supportive environment for teens in our care, promoting positive interaction, and delivering life skills, social skills, and enrichment activities at our Transitional Living Program in Everett.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build strong relationships with youth and staff, promoting a positive and collaborative approach.
  • Maintain and model healthy boundaries with youth, accepting diverse lifestyles, behaviors, and cultural practices.
  • Assess emergency situations, gather information, and provide support, adhering to mandating reporting and licensing policies.
  • De-escalate youth in crises, utilizing anti-racist, inclusive, equity-based, and trauma-informed care.
  • Process intakes and exits, provide orientation, and maintain accurate records.
  • Partner with case managers to support youth case plans, communicate with staff, and maintain logs and forms.
  • Supervise youth, ensure safety, and hold them accountable to policies and guidelines.
  • Assist with household tasks, provide meals, and arrange appointments.
  • Communicate with other providers, respond to community calls, and participate in enrichment activities.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED or high school equivalency.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • 6 months minimum of experience working with youth.
  • DCYF background clearance.
  • Acceptable driver's abstract with no more than 2 violations within the last 3 years.
  • Possess a valid driver's license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.

Compensation: $22-23.5 Hourly Wage
