Job Title: Residential Youth Counselor

Cocoon House is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Youth Counselor to join our team. As a Residential Youth Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and supportive environment for teens in our care, promoting positive interaction, and helping them develop essential life skills.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled and empathetic individual to work with our youth, providing guidance, support, and mentorship. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with youth, knowledge of best practices in youth development, and a commitment to making a positive difference in their lives.

Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with youth and staff
  • Provide guidance and support to help youth develop life skills and achieve their goals
  • Assess and respond to emergency situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of youth
  • Participate in enrichment activities and programming to promote youth development
  • Collaborate with case managers to support youth case plans and ensure seamless communication
  • Supervise youth in the program, ensuring their safety and well-being while holding them accountable for policies and guidelines
  • Assist with household tasks, meal planning, and grocery shopping
  • Transport youth to appointments as needed
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 6 months of experience working with youth
  • DCYF background clearance
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to communicate effectively with youth and staff
