Job Overview

Peregrine Search Solutions is seeking a strategic and experienced Compensation and Benefits Supervisor to lead our payroll department as we expand. The successful candidate will be local and possess a strong emphasis on team leadership and development, ensuring precise and compliant payroll processing across various locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee direct reports in an office environment, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, coaching, and employee recognition.
  • Generate reports summarizing payroll-related expenses.
  • Reconcile payroll registers to W-2 forms on a quarterly and annual basis.
  • Assist in the resolution of complex payroll calculations and scenarios.
  • Guarantee timely and accurate processing of weekly payroll, including taxes, deductions, garnishments, and benefits, adhering to federal and state regulations.
  • Leverage Workday for weekly payroll processing and provide configuration support for payroll-related tasks.
  • Manage relationships with vendors involved in payroll processing and stay informed about updates in payroll software and technological advancements.
  • Remain updated on payroll laws and regulations, recommending necessary changes to policies and procedures.
  • Continuously assess payroll processes and systems to identify improvement opportunities and implement enhancements for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Focus on administering established policies and procedures while having the opportunity to influence departmental budgeting, strategic planning, and procedural modifications.

Qualifications

  • Hybrid remote work available; in-office presence required 2-3 days a week.
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification is required, or the candidate must be willing to obtain it within 12 months of hire.
  • A Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred; degrees in HR, business, finance, or accounting are advantageous.
  • A Bachelor's degree is mandatory if the candidate does not possess an active CPP.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Proficiency in Workday is essential.
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of payroll experience and at least 5 years in a leadership role is required.
  • Comprehensive understanding of payroll concepts and principles is necessary.
  • Ability to perform complex tasks typically following established processes.
  • Capability to lead and direct the work of other associates with full authority over personnel decisions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve payroll processing issues.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
