Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Student Personnel Technician to join our team at California State University, Los Angeles. As a key member of our financial aid office, you will be responsible for managing a caseload, answering phone inquiries, and providing exceptional customer service to students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of student cases, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of issues
  • Answer phone inquiries and respond to student emails in a professional and courteous manner
  • Staff the front counter, providing assistance to students and answering questions
  • Perform file reviews and verify financial aid eligibility
  • Tailor information to meet the specific needs and situations of individual students
  • Determine financial aid eligibility and award financial aid
Requirements
  • Equivalent to two years of full-time responsible general clerical experience in a college or university financial aid office
  • General knowledge of interviewing techniques and thorough knowledge of financial aid policies and procedures
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to learn new information and computer programs/systems
Working Conditions

The incumbent must be able to sustain a working knowledge of changes in financial aid programs, obtain, analyze, and evaluate data for specific use, and advise and assist students in selecting and processing financial aid contracts. The ability to work under supervision and within assigned time lines, handle large volumes of work, and keep track of many details is also required.

The person holding this position is considered a "mandated reporter" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 revised July 21, 2017, as a condition of employment.
