M.S. Walker is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Technician/Merge Operator to ensure the smooth and safe operation of our automated distribution systems, prioritizing safety and quality in all tasks. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of packaging and distribution processes and demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and manage industrial machinery effectively.

Available Shift: Third shift: Monday-Thursday 8:00 pm - 6:00 am

* Bonus Structure: $300 after 30 calendar days, $400 after 60 calendar days, and $500 upon union membership (estimated 4 months of service)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure daily distribution targets are consistently met.
  • Set up and operate all automated distribution line machinery.
  • Manage start-up, changeover, and shutdown processes for distribution lines, including closing out packaging shifts.
  • Conduct preventative and light industrial maintenance on automated systems.
  • Troubleshoot issues with automated distribution equipment.
  • Provide guidance to General Workers on best practices for distribution lines.
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate with various departments.
  • Calculate wave cut-offs and monitor production metrics.
  • Coordinate routine maintenance and document all maintenance activities.
  • Engage in and welcome continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience with automated industrial distribution systems.
  • Willingness to work overtime or adjust schedule as needed.
  • Advanced knowledge of automated distribution line operations.
  • Familiarity with distribution line standard operating procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and safety.
  • Leadership experience is a plus.
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Excellent multitasking skills.
  • Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Comfortable with outdoor work and physical activity.
  • Ability to frequently climb stairs and occasionally work at heights up to 20 ft.
  • Capable of lifting heavy items weighing up to 50 lbs.
