Job Summary

Counsel students and parents regarding financial matters related to tuition & fees, room & board charges, billing statements, and loans. Work directly with corporate/agency for billing and collection matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service to students, parents, and RIT departments regarding student financial services matters.
  • Offer timely and accurate information regarding student tuition, room, board, fees, and payments, including financial aid and third-party credits.
  • Perform detailed work in areas such as third-party billing, collections, student account services, accounts receivable, cashier functions, and Federal Perkins Loan Program.
  • Engage with students and parents to resolve student account balances exceeding $25,000 per semester, recommending payment plans and exercising professional judgment in resolving past-due balances.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of applicable university policies and federal/state regulations related to financial aid programs, including Federal Title IV Programs, NYS TAP, State VR programs, university-funded financial aid, alternative loan programs, college savings, and prepayment programs.
  • Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions system and other related student administrative systems, ensuring efficient and accurate processing of student account adjustments, third-party billings, and deferment programs.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external agencies to test new functionality for PeopleSoft and provide input on system improvements.
  • Act as a resource and advisor for students regarding federal loan programs, repayment, and consolidation, ensuring families and students understand the consequences of defaulting and the impact on future credit.
  • Answer incoming calls, process transactions, and counsel walk-up customers.
  • Perform other tasks and special projects as requested by management.
  • Participate in a minimum of 40 hours of training/professional development annually, focusing on enhancing overall knowledge and specific skills required to perform successfully in the position.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of Oracle financial applications, PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, or another enterprise system, as well as proficiency with MS Office.
  • Understanding of accounting principles, math skills, and ability to analyze financial data to make informed decisions.
