The Haptic Engineering team at Apple develops innovative haptic solutions that are central to the company's products, including the iPhone and Apple Watch.

Your Role

As a Haptics Control Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and validation of control systems and algorithms for next-generation haptic actuators and experiences.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Control system design, analysis, and integration for haptic actuators
  • Characterize and validate haptic module and system performance
  • Perform system modeling and simulation
  • Prototype bring-up, debug, and characterization
  • Define factory test requirements for haptic system
  • Author engineering requirements and specifications
  • Communicating cross-functionally and throughout management structure (written, verbal, and presentation)
  • Perform failure mode analysis and problem solving
  • International travel to support the product development
  • IP generation

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • BS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience
  • Strong background in control engineering, dynamics, and signal processing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Team Oriented: must be able to thrive in collaborative cross-functional environments

Preferred Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Hands-on experience in control system design, analysis, implementation, and validation
  • Familiarity with modeling electro-mechanical systems
  • Proficiency with Matlab/Simulink and C/C++
  • Experience with electromagnetic or piezoelectric actuators
  • Experience with high volume mass production
  • Knowledge of micro controller or embedded hardware/software
  • Knowledge of state-space techniques
  • Knowledge of nonlinear control techniques
