Position Overview

The Senior Accounting Specialist will play a crucial role within our Financial team, focusing on intricate government accounting practices as an independent contributor. This position demands a thorough grasp of government accounting standards and the capability to manage the complete project lifecycle from an accounting viewpoint. The Senior Accounting Specialist will also engage in special projects as they acclimate to the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounts receivable, cash receipts, accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing, and revenue tracking.
  • Provide vital assistance to Project Managers during project initiation, modification, execution, monitoring, and closure, promptly identifying and resolving potential issues.
  • Engage in joint venture accounting tasks, including detailed financial statement preparation and the establishment of new and existing joint ventures in Costpoint.
  • Guarantee precise quarterly and annual joint venture reporting to Corporate.
  • Assist with monthly reconciliations, including IFRS16 reconciliations.
  • Support tax reporting efforts by gathering necessary documentation for submission to the tax department or CPA firm.
  • Facilitate subscription revenue setup and processing.
  • Contribute to additional special projects as assigned.

  • Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proven history of handling confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to excel in a collaborative team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, particularly Excel.
  • Flexibility and skill in meeting deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Position requires drug screening.
Education and Experience
  • 3-5 years of prior experience in a comparable accounting role.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Economics, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Proficiency in Deltek Costpoint.
  • Familiarity with various types of government contracts, such as Time & Materials (T&M), Cost Plus Fixed Fees (CPFF), and Firm Fixed Price (FFP), along with knowledge of the FAR, DFARS, JTR, DCAA Audit Guidelines, and GAAP.
  • Experience with Cognos is a plus.
