Position Summary:
We are currently seeking a Deputy Managing Clerk to join our esteemed law firm client. This role is classified as non-exempt, offering a competitive salary of $95,000, with a shift from 11am to 7pm or alternative hours from 12am to 8pm, including overtime as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Managing Clerk in providing docketing, calendaring, and electronic filing support for all cases handled by the firm in both state and federal courts.
- Address procedural inquiries from attorneys and paralegals regarding federal, state, and local court regulations.
- Utilize the CourtAlert case management system to review, docket, and calendar court and discovery documents.
- Ensure compliance with court rules by reviewing documents prior to service or filing.
- Facilitate the serving and e-filing of court documents across various jurisdictions.
- Act as a liaison with court officials, process servers, and external vendors.
Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal court regulations, including familiarity with the New York CPLR and FRCP.
- Extensive experience with electronic filing systems in state and federal courts, including NYSCEF and other state e-filing platforms.
- Proficient in docketing and calendaring using rules-based systems such as CourtAlert or eDockets/Milana.
- Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with legal terminology and documentation processes.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with integrity and professionalism.
- Capable of thriving in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
- Strong time management and prioritization skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage overtime as required.
Education and Experience:
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in a Managing Clerk's or Managing Attorney's Office is preferred.
- A Bachelor's degree is highly valued but not mandatory.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a desk and using a computer.
- Capability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
