Job Highlights:This Opportunity:The Developmental Specialist is primarily responsible for supporting individuals to achieve their personal dreams and goals.
What You'll Do:- Assess each person receiving services for their hopes, dreams, and desires, and provide supports that facilitate achievement.
- Support individuals in developing relationships in their community and with their natural supports.
- Assist individuals in participating fully in their community consistent with their interests.
- Ensure that the rights of each person receiving services are protected and promoted at all times.
- Provide support as needed to meet the emotional, physical, and medical needs of each person supported.
- Facilitate person-centered, effective, positive relationships with individuals receiving services using positive approaches that promote self-determination in all areas of life.
- Provide input and recommendations into assessment and planning processes, and development of the individual's plan.
- Implement the person's plan fully, within the requirements of the service definition, and document as required by the service definition and agency policy.
- Complete daily progress notes and communication logs to ensure appointments, goals, and interests are met.
- Assist individuals with the day-to-day operation of their home, including housekeeping, meal preparation, laundry, shopping, lawn care, vehicle cleanliness, and maintenance.
- Drive and travel as required, and arrange for or provide transportation to individuals receiving services as needed.
- Assist individuals with knowledge of emergency procedures and personal safety, and utilize effective judgment when dealing with safety issues.
- Assist new staff and/or current staff with orientation, mentoring, and training.
- Attend and actively participate in meetings and training as required, and maintain certification in all agency, state, and federal training requirements.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and comply with all agency policies and procedures, as well as state and federal statutes and regulations related to specific program areas.
- Follow service definition guidelines for services being provided.
- Complete all other relevant responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
High School Diploma (Required)
Certifications We're Looking For:Drivers License (Valid) - USA
Experience We're Looking For:Experience working with children or adults with a mental health diagnosis, an intellectual/developmental disability, or substance use disorder
Schedule:Every other weekend: Saturday-Sunday (10:00pm-6:00am)
