Role Summary:
The Accountant will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial documentation of the organization, ensuring precision and adherence to accounting regulations. This position entails the preparation of financial statements, conducting account reconciliations, and bolstering the overall fiscal health of the organization. The ideal candidate will possess a solid grasp of accounting principles, exceptional analytical abilities, and the capacity to collaborate effectively in a dynamic setting.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting:
    • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
    • Examine financial data and trends to offer insights and recommendations to management.
    • Assist in the formulation of budgets and forecasts.
  • General Ledger Management:
    • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
    • Ensure accurate recording and classification of all financial transactions.
    • Prepare and post journal entries as necessary.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable Oversight:
    • Manage the accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely and precise processing.
    • Conduct regular account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Compliance and Audit Support:
    • Ensure adherence to company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
  • Tax Preparation Assistance:
    • Support the preparation of tax returns and ensure timely submissions.
    • Maintain accurate records of tax-related transactions and assist in tax planning initiatives.
  • Payroll Collaboration:
    • Work alongside the HR department to ensure accurate payroll processing and reporting.
  • Process Enhancement:
    • Identify opportunities for refining accounting processes and systems.
    • Implement best practices to improve the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with various departments to support comprehensive financial management.
    • Provide guidance and support to junior accounting personnel as required.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Experience:
    • 3-5 years of experience in accounting or a similar role.
    • Experience in the transport and logistics sector is advantageous.
  • Skills:
    • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
    • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
    • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
    • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
    • Experience with tax preparation and compliance is a plus.
