About This Role

The Sous Chef is a key member of our culinary team at Nerai, playing a crucial role in ensuring the highest quality standards are met. As a leader, you will be responsible for upholding our company's culinary and operating standards in the absence of the Executive Chef.

In this position, you will work closely with our Corporate Chef, CDC, and kitchen staff to guarantee food standards are exceeded. Your exceptional leadership skills will be put to the test as you lead the kitchen team through service, showcasing your ability to motivate and inspire others.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Executing food, beverage, and service standards that align with our brand
  • Maintaining high levels of sanitation and adhering to our rigorous food safety protocols
  • Organizing kitchen space and ensuring our team adheres to the same standards
  • Assisting in the identification and hiring of talented kitchen staff, with a focus on developing them into outstanding leaders
  • Participating in interviews for hourly kitchen employees
  • Ensuring operational and training standards are consistently followed and executed

Requirements for the role include:

  • 3+ years of culinary experience, preferably in a Sous Chef capacity within a fine dining concept
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Bachelor's degree in culinary arts or a related field (desired)
  • Ability to work a variable schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced and challenging work environment
