Job Overview

Position: Medical Biller in Nephrology
Compensation: $20/hr+
Work Arrangement: Fully onsite
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm

Key Responsibilities:
  • Examine patient invoices for precision and completeness, ensuring all necessary information is collected.
  • Prepare, assess, and submit claims utilizing billing software, encompassing both electronic and paper processing.
  • Possess knowledge of insurance protocols, including HMO/PPO, Medicare, and state Medicaid.
  • Follow up on outstanding claims within the standard billing cycle.
  • Verify each insurance payment for accuracy and adherence to contractual agreements.
  • Contact insurance providers to address any payment discrepancies as needed.
  • Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurance plans.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of all accounts for insurance or patient follow-up.
  • Investigate and appeal denied claims as necessary.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Familiarity with HMO/PPO, Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer systems and requirements.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and collections.
  • Experience in nephrology billing is essential.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with insurance payers to resolve issues.
  • Excellent customer service abilities for engaging with patients regarding medical claims and payments, including effective communication with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to investigate and resolve discrepancies, denials, appeals, and collections.
  • Understanding of medical terminology commonly encountered in medical claims.
