Job Title: Billing Specialist

As a key member of the Accounting Department, the Billing Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely completion of billing tasks. This position requires a high level of attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in responding to billing inquiries from various levels of management, staff, attorneys, and clients in a timely and professional manner.
  • Review and provide updates on aged unbilled Work-in-Progress (WIP) to the Billing Supervisor/Director of Billing.
  • Provide detailed expense back-up to accompany invoices as required.
  • Process invoices using the internal Paperless Proforma application for specific attorneys.
  • Review newly opened matters for clients of assigned attorneys to determine availability through e-billing websites.
  • Ensure timely submission of invoices and address any reductions or rejections promptly.
  • Provide regular updates on invoice status to the Billing Supervisor/Director of Billing.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Assist with special projects as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of legal billing experience.
  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
    • Meticulous and highly organized with the ability to manage high levels of attorney assignments.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills to interact with all levels of the organization.
    • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and take initiative to assist as needed.
    • Ability to work in an interactive team environment with excellent customer service skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:

This role operates in a clerical, office setting and requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to exert physical strength to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds. Work involves sitting most of the time, with occasional walking and standing necessary to carry out job duties.

Close visual acuity is required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
