Job Summary

The City of Reno is seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals to join our Fire Department as Firefighters. As a Firefighter, you will be responsible for responding to emergency situations, providing fire suppression and rescue services, and engaging in fire prevention and education activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to emergency calls and provide fire suppression and rescue services
  • Participate in fire prevention and education activities, including conducting inspections and providing fire safety education
  • Operate and maintain firefighting equipment and apparatus
  • Assist in completing day-to-day tasks, such as record keeping and map maintenance
  • Perform public information and relations tasks, as assigned
  • Maintain a high level of physical fitness to perform firefighting and rescue tasks
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Must have completed Emergency Medical Technician training and possess a valid Nevada Emergency Medical Technician certification or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician certification
  • Must have taken and passed the National Testing Network, Inc. test for Fire and added the Reno Fire Department as one of their agencies within the past six months
  • Must have taken and passed the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) within the last 12 months
Working Conditions

Firefighters work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, responding to emergency situations and engaging in physically demanding activities. They must be able to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues and the public.
