Role Summary: The Safety Specialist will take charge of monitoring and enforcing safety measures on our commercial plumbing construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and have a solid background in the construction field, particularly in plumbing. This role involves close collaboration with site supervisors, project managers, and personnel to foster a secure work environment, mitigate risks, and promote a robust safety culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate, implement, and uphold safety policies and procedures tailored to commercial plumbing construction.
  • Conduct routine site evaluations to detect potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety regulations and standards.
  • Educate and train staff on safety protocols, appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and emergency response procedures.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, documenting outcomes and suggesting corrective measures to avert future incidents.
  • Maintain and refresh safety documentation, including OSHA logs, training records, and inspection reports.
  • Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to weave safety into all stages of construction planning and execution.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
  • Lead safety meetings, toolbox discussions, and training sessions to keep the workforce informed and engaged in safety practices.
  • Oversee and manage the utilization of safety equipment, ensuring all tools and equipment comply with safety standards.
  • Encourage a safety-first culture by promoting proactive behavior and recognizing safe practices among team members.

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience in a safety role within the construction industry, with a preference for plumbing experience.
  • Thorough understanding of OSHA regulations and other pertinent safety standards.
  • Preferred certifications in safety management, such as OSHA 30-hour, CHST, or CSP.
  • Strong grasp of construction processes and the unique safety challenges associated with plumbing work.
  • Exceptional communication and training abilities, capable of effectively conveying safety information to a diverse workforce.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail in identifying and addressing safety concerns.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaborate with multiple teams across various job sites.
  • Proficiency in utilizing safety management software and tools.
