This role is classified as ECB status, necessitating a minimum number of hours worked monthly as required by the department, with limited benefits available.

Position Overview:
The Senior Inpatient Coding Specialist is responsible for coding Emergency Room, Outpatient, Outpatient Surgeries, Observations, and Inpatient medical records.

Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED is required.

Certifications:
Must possess Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification from AHIMA.

Experience Requirements:

A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required, along with achieving a score of 80% or higher on both outpatient and inpatient coding examinations.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of Basic ICD 10 coding, as well as anatomy and physiology. Proficiency in PC and software applications is essential. Candidates must also be able to achieve a score of 80% or above on the outpatient and inpatient coding exams.

Key Responsibilities:
- Code Emergency Room visits, outpatient services, outpatient surgeries, observations, and inpatient records.
- Address CCI/medical necessity edits as required.
- Monitor unbilled accounts for all patient types on a daily basis.
- Maintain coding quality at or above 95%.
- Ensure productivity levels are equal to or greater than 95%.
- Complete necessary continuing education as mandated.

Decision-Making Authority:
Exercise independent judgment in planning the sequence of operations and making minor decisions within a complex technical or professional environment.

Collaborative Relationships:
Engage with internal stakeholders through both telephone and face-to-face interactions. Collaborate with external customers and other healthcare professionals and staff.
