The role of a Mathematics Educator encompasses two distinct classifications, each with its own salary structure. The primary responsibility of the Mathematics Educator is to meticulously plan, prepare, and deliver educational programs aimed at achieving defined student learning outcomes. This role requires a commitment to ongoing professional development and self-reflection to enhance teaching effectiveness and student engagement.

As educators gain experience, their involvement in school initiatives beyond the classroom expands. All Mathematics Educators may be tasked with additional responsibilities that align with their salary classification, qualifications, and experience.

Mathematics Educator Classification 2
Educators at this level play a pivotal role in driving improvements in student performance and educational outcomes as outlined in the school's strategic objectives. They contribute significantly to the formulation and execution of school policies and priorities.

A key aspect of this position involves enhancing the knowledge base of colleagues regarding student learning and effective instructional practices, thereby assisting the school in defining high-quality teaching standards.

Mathematics Educators at Classification 2 are expected to:

  • Possess comprehensive content knowledge and pedagogical skills to cater to the diverse needs of all learners.
  • Exemplify outstanding classroom practices and mentor fellow educators in reflective teaching methodologies.
  • Provide expert guidance on content, processes, and strategies that will shape both individual and collective professional development.
  • Supervise and mentor student teachers.
  • Assist colleagues in utilizing student performance data to inform instructional strategies aimed at achieving targeted learning outcomes.

Mathematics Educator Classification 1
The primary focus for educators at this level is to further develop their skills and competencies under structured support and guidance. They are responsible for teaching various student groups and ensuring the effective delivery of their educational programs. Classification 1 educators operate under general supervision within established guidelines and may oversee the training of student teachers.

Educators at this level are involved in policy development and the implementation of school priorities. Their focus is on classroom management, subject content, and teaching methodologies. New educators receive structured support and mentoring from more experienced colleagues.

Under supervision, new educators will plan and instruct student groups in one or more subjects and are expected to engage in professional learning activities that integrate curriculum, assessment, and pedagogy across the institution.

Classification 1 educators are accountable for their own classes and may also participate in policy development, project teams, and co-curricular activities.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of a Mathematics Educator may include, but are not limited to:

  • Direct instruction of individual and group students.
  • Contributing to the development, implementation, and assessment of curriculum areas or programs within the institution.
  • Performing other teaching-related and organizational duties as directed by school leadership.
  • Engaging in activities such as parent-teacher conferences, staff meetings, and school events.
  • Undertaking non-teaching supervisory responsibilities.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must be currently registered or eligible for registration with the relevant teaching authority and possess qualifications or demonstrated experience in the specified curriculum areas.
