Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Systems Engineer Architect​ to contribute to our diverse and skilled team.

In this role, the selected candidate will be responsible for developing system architectures and defining essential capabilities and performance criteria.

The individual will establish design and technology maturity constraints in alignment with customer specifications, create comprehensive definitions of system external interfaces, and outline the system implementation strategy and operational concept.

The candidate will ensure that requirements are fulfilled and assess performance in collaboration with the customer.

The ideal candidate will possess the capability to analyze architectures and produce various DODAF or SysML viewpoints to support this initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop system architectures
  • Create architecture, CONOPS, and use case documentation utilizing model-based systems engineering methodologies
  • Conduct functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to convert customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Execute trade studies to select among multiple potential solutions
  • Perform Systems Requirements analysis
  • Manage requirements, including decomposition, allocation, verification, and validation

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 14 years of experience in engineering; OR Master of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 12 years of experience in engineering; OR PhD in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 9 years of experience in engineering.
  • Must possess an active DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain an interim Top Secret clearance prior to starting, within a reasonable timeframe as determined by the business.
  • Must have the capability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance after commencement of employment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong foundation in Model Based Systems Engineering and Architecture Development
  • Practical knowledge of aircraft design.
  • Experience in the military aerospace development sector is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Cameo Magic Draw or other MBSE tools such as Rhapsody, Sparx EA, and Enterprise Architect.
  • Proven experience in developing various DODAF view artifacts, particularly Operational and functional viewpoints, using MBSE tools like CAMEO

Salary Range:
$142,000 - $213,700.00. This salary range serves as a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining base salary offers, including the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
