Lead Software Architect

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems Sector is seeking a Lead Software Architect to become a vital part of the Global Surveillance Division, collaborating with a team of skilled and diverse professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the deployment, automation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and enhancement of software systems and infrastructure.
- Engage in hands-on technical tasks with a proactive mindset towards environment automation and management, focusing on continuous improvement.
- Participate as a team member in an agile development framework, responsible for the design and execution of application builds, releases, and deployment activities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather requirements, prototype, and architect intricate solutions that support building and testing plans, conduct quality reviews, and resolve operational issues.
- Assist in the integration, troubleshooting, and testing of software modifications.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to tackle complex challenges independently while fostering teamwork. A comprehensive understanding of the software development lifecycle and expertise in automated testing for large data sets is essential.
Essential Functions:
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
- Full lifecycle design, implementation, and unit testing of software applications.
- Utilize extensive technical knowledge to communicate effectively and present technical findings clearly.
- Provide innovative technical solutions to a variety of complex problems, ensuring alignment with program objectives.
- Design, develop, document, test, and debug software applications that incorporate logical and mathematical solutions.
- Conduct interdisciplinary research as necessary and collaborate with hardware engineers in the planning and development of electronic data processing systems.
- Work alongside team members to integrate functionalities with other software components.
- Support the collection and reporting of software metrics.
- Adhere to best practices in software development.
- Develop software products throughout all phases of the software lifecycle.
- Demonstrate the ability to work autonomously and identify solutions to intricate problems.
- Act as the primary technical contact for contracts and projects, interacting with senior external personnel on significant technical matters.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited institution with a minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering, or a Master's degree in a STEM discipline with at least 3 years of experience.
- Proficiency in development using C/C++ or other object-oriented programming languages.
- Experience in software development within both Linux and Windows environments.
- Familiarity with debugging software in desktop and target environments.
- Experience in software or systems testing.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal abilities.
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies.
- Knowledge of configuration management using industry-standard tools and processes.
- U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret level security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree with relevant experience.
- Active DoD Top Secret clearance with recent issuance and the ability to obtain special program access.
- Experience with COMSEC equipment.
- CompTIA Security Plus and CompTIA Linux Plus certifications.
- Leadership experience in a team setting.
- Familiarity with Windows, Linux, and/or VxWorks development.
- Experience with the Atlassian tool suite, including Git and Confluence.
Salary Range: $92,600 - $139,000
This salary range serves as a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining base salary offers, including the scope and responsibilities of the position, as well as the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
