GIS Technician Job Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled GIS Technician to join our team at J.Y. Legner Associates, Inc. in Louisville, KY. As a GIS Technician, you will play a crucial role in creating and maintaining accurate maps and records.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Compile and analyze data to generate reports, forms, and documents.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of maps, records, and taxing districts related to electric and gas distribution systems.
  • Utilize computer hardware and software for mapping, document processing, and information retrieval.
  • Conduct fieldwork, including measurements, note-taking, location stake setting, and minor right-of-way clearing.
  • Create "as-built" drawings from field notes and verify the accuracy of field installation records.
  • Learn to operate electronic document scanners, survey equipment, facility locators, and other necessary tools.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Geography or a related field is required.
  • 1 year of experience in GIS is preferred.
  • Ability to work on-site in Louisville, KY 40202 is required.
