About the Unit

The Neuro Critical Care Unit comprises 14 beds within the Meijer Heart Center. As part of the Comprehensive Stroke Center, it stands as the largest stroke center in West Michigan, focusing on the management of patients experiencing strokes or other neurological disorders. Our expertise encompasses conditions such as Hemorrhagic stroke, Ischemic stroke, seizures, and Hydrocephalus, all requiring critical care. Our nursing staff collaborates closely with nurse technicians, intensivists, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, therapists, social workers, chaplains, and administrative staff to deliver specialized care. This collaborative environment fosters a culture of teamwork, kindness, and continuous learning, contributing to a notably low turnover rate among our nurses.

About Meijer Heart Center

Exceptional care for heart and vascular systems is paramount. Our specialists are adept at monitoring and managing the entire spectrum of heart and vascular health, performing procedures ranging from bypass surgeries to heart and lung transplants. We are committed to advancing heart and vascular care through research, innovative treatments, and adherence to best practices.

Scope of Work

The Registered Nurse, adhering to the ANA scope of practice, employs the nursing process framework to deliver professional nursing care. This includes integrating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and facilitate discharge. The RN is responsible for providing quality patient care under the guidance of the Nurse Leader, in accordance with Corewell Health policies and procedures, while recognizing the influence of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on outcomes. The RN collaborates with patients and families to incorporate their input and goals into the care plan, developing educational strategies and documenting learning appropriately in health records.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required within five years.
  • Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days.
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within six months.
  • Preferred: Six months of inpatient RN experience.
