Unit Overview
The Neuro Critical Care Unit consists of 14 beds located within the Meijer Heart Center. As part of the Comprehensive Stroke Center, we are recognized as the largest stroke center in West Michigan, specializing in the management of patients experiencing strokes and other neurological emergencies. Our focus includes conditions such as Hemorrhagic stroke, Ischemic stroke, seizures, and Hydrocephalus requiring intensive care. Our nursing staff collaborates closely with nurse technicians, intensivists, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, therapists, social workers, chaplains, and administrative staff to deliver exceptional care. The team has cultivated a culture centered on collaboration, compassion, teamwork, and continuous learning, resulting in a notably low turnover rate due to the strong bonds formed among staff.

Our heart and vascular services are designed to provide exceptional care. This includes a comprehensive approach from specialists who monitor the entire cardiovascular system and perform a range of procedures from bypass surgeries to heart and lung transplants. Role Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse, adhering to the ANA scope of practice, employs the nursing process framework to deliver professional nursing care, emphasizing patient and family-centered principles. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and discharging patients. The RN ensures high-quality care under the guidance of the Nurse Leader, in alignment with Corewell Health policies, and recognizes the significance of nursing care and patient/family collaboration on health outcomes. The RN engages with patients and families to incorporate their input and goals into the care plan and develops educational strategies, documenting all learning in the health record.

Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Nursing required.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing required within five years.
- Current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days.
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within six months.
- Preferred: Six months of inpatient RN experience.
Work Schedule
This position is full-time, primarily working night shifts with a weekly schedule of 36 hours. Shifts typically run from 7 PM to 7:30 AM, with varying days and every other weekend required.
