Unit Overview

The Neuro Critical Care Unit comprises 14 beds within the Meijer Heart Center at Butterworth Hospital. As part of the Comprehensive Stroke Center, it stands as the largest stroke center in West Michigan, focusing on the management of patients experiencing strokes and other neurological disorders. Our expertise includes handling conditions such as Hemorrhagic stroke, Ischemic stroke, seizures, and Hydrocephalus requiring critical care. Our nursing staff collaborates closely with nurse technicians, intensivists, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, therapists, social workers, chaplains, and administrative staff to deliver specialized care. The culture within this team is built on collaboration, compassion, teamwork, and continuous learning, resulting in a notably low turnover rate.

Exceptional care for heart and vascular systems is paramount. Our specialists provide comprehensive monitoring and perform a range of procedures from bypass surgeries to heart and lung transplants. Role Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse, adhering to the ANA scope of practice, employs the nursing process framework to deliver professional nursing care. This includes incorporating patient-family centered care principles for assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and discharge. The RN ensures quality patient care under the guidance of the Nurse Leader, in alignment with Corewell Health policies, while recognizing the significance of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on outcomes. The RN collaborates with patients and families to incorporate their input and goals into the care plan and develops educational strategies for them, documenting learning in the health record appropriately.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required within five years.
  • Current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days.
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within six months.
  • Preferred: 6+ months of inpatient RN experience.

Work Schedule

Full-time position with night shifts, requiring 36 hours per week, typically from 7 PM to 7:30 AM, with varied days and every other weekend.
