Role Overview

The Production Technician plays a crucial role in the preparation, packaging, and organization of materials for shipping. This position involves the processing, breeding, and packaging of live insects, as well as conducting daily quality assessments on both raw materials and finished products. Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the work area is essential, and the technician will collaborate with various teams to address material and quality issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the breeding schedule for live insects in accordance with established protocols.
  • Retrieve and package products based on daily requirements.
  • Conduct quality inspections focusing on appearance, quantity, labeling, etc.
  • Prepare and organize materials for cleaning.
  • Document quality control findings and report any discrepancies to the team leader.
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment.
  • Utilize equipment such as pallet jacks, shipping software, and taping machines.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with monthly stock assessments.
  • Propose improvements for process efficiency.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the team leader or production manager.


Qualifications and Skills

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficient in scanning, sorting, packing, and loading materials.

Work Environment

  • Regular exposure to live insects, including bumblebees and pollen.
  • Experience varying temperature conditions.
  • Compliance with specific personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements based on tasks.
  • Potential for seasonal overtime.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds regularly and up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally.
  • Engagement in repetitive motions, bending, lifting, twisting, crouching, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Maintain professionalism under pressure.
