Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Test Engineer to join our Software Systems, Safety, and Test Engineering division. This team is pivotal in verifying and validating our self-driving technology, tackling one of the most complex challenges in systems engineering. The Systems Test team plays a crucial role in supporting the development of system-level autonomy through rigorous testing and evaluation of the Aurora Driver.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with leadership to formulate testing strategies for the Aurora Driver.
  • Utilize a variety of testing methodologies, including simulation, Hardware-In-Loop (HIL), and both track and road testing, to support autonomy development and system validation.
  • Plan, execute, and analyze tests, identifying defects or anomalies in system performance.
  • Work closely with development teams to investigate root causes and facilitate issue resolution.
  • Communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively to external teams, peers, and stakeholders.
  • Design, develop, and implement processes that reflect best practices in test engineering.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Over 8 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in testing and evaluating complex systems.
  • Familiarity with various testing methods, tools, and frameworks.
  • Ability to distill data into actionable insights for decision-making.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in testing high-risk and safety-critical products.
  • Knowledge of engineering and operational risk assessment methodologies.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, bash) for data management in test reporting.
  • Background in autonomous systems, particularly in the automotive sector.
  • Familiarity with requirements management and testing tools such as JAMA.
  • Understanding of automotive safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262) and regulatory requirements for autonomous vehicles.
  • Experience with mission-critical hardware and software in safety-sensitive industries.
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies and version control systems.
