Job Overview

SMS group Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Automation Systems Developer to join our team in Pittsburgh, PA. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting engineering solutions for implementing and modernizing new software-intensive Level 2 automation systems for our metallurgical plants and flat rolling mills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, deploy, and service Level-2 Automation systems based on user needs, software requirements, system specification, and design.
  • Perform system/software engineering activities, including implementation (design and coding), testing, deployment, and documentation.
  • Commission complete Level 2 systems delivered to manufacturing facilities, including process data analysis, systems troubleshooting, customer relations, system monitoring, and training.
  • Collaborate with individuals and teams in engineering departments in the U.S. and worldwide, as well as with customers and suppliers, to provide engineering solutions on technical and project-related matters.
  • Train personnel on the use and management of the automation system, as well as create operator's and systems maintenance manuals.
  • Manage various software development tools, team collaboration tools, and office application suites.
  • Servicing existing systems to ensure they meet specified performance standards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a directly related field.
  • Object-oriented programming skills, including algorithms and data structures.
  • Experience with C#.NET, Java, or C++ programming languages.
  • Knowledge of Relational Databases (PostgreSQL or SQL Server).
  • Ability to analyze and design software solutions.
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 15%.
