Job Title: SBA Business Development Associate

At CalPrivate Bank, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced SBA Business Development Associate to join our team. As a key member of our SBA team, you will be responsible for supporting the Business Development Officers with marketing, loan review, submission, and loan closing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Market and assist with business development activities and other marketing efforts to ensure service requirements are met and new business opportunities are realized.
  • Plan and coordinate marketing campaigns and business development seminars and meetings.
  • Develop close working relationships with external bank partners in conjunction with BDO activities.
  • Work with the BDO to complete documentation necessary to submit a loan application to credit.
  • Analyze, originate, and monitor a variety of more routine, less complex SBA loans.
  • Make or assist in sales calls, gather related financial and general business information as directed, coordinate and perform financial analyses needed to make credit decisions.
  • Assist BDO with interviewing prospective applicants and requesting specified information related to loan application; continually correspond with applicants to resolve questions regarding application information.
  • Assist with gathering and analyzing all information necessary to present a financing request to underwriter, SBA Department Manager, President/CEO, Chief Credit Officer, etc.
  • Assist BDO in the collection of application items and construction of submission packages.

Requirements:

  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of equivalent SBA experience preferred.
  • 3+ years of banking experience and general knowledge of the lending process and requirements.

Skills Needed:

  • Experience in financial statement and tax return analysis.
  • Some experience in SBA lending activities and terminology.
  • Some knowledge of commercial real estate and construction financing.
  • Knowledge of SBA SOP.
  • Knowledge of Government Regulations.
  • Business development and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills.
  • Proficient PC skills to include spreadsheet, word-processing, database systems, and other software utilized by the department.
  • Ability to coordinate and work collaboratively with internal and external contacts on a daily basis.
  • Knowledge and experience to anticipate, identify, and resolve problems.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, and talk or hear. The employee is required to walk or balance. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to focus. In the performance of duties of this job, the employee may be required to travel occasionally.

Other:

Must be willing to travel as needed to provide support to the SBA team as needed.
