Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Research Technician to join our team in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of routine, technical, and administrative tasks in support of research at the university.

Key Responsibilities

- Collect and prepare specimens for analysis
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment
- Order and maintain laboratory supplies
- Assist with data analysis and report writing
- Participate in research projects and microsurgical training exercises
- Communicate effectively with vendors and colleagues in other laboratories
- Perform other duties as assigned and/or participate in special projects to support the mission of VCUHS and department

Requirements

- Experience in a laboratory/research setting
- Previous experience with animal work and tissue processing
- Basic knowledge of statistics and Microsoft Office
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a diverse, collaborative team-oriented environment

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelors/Master's degree in a related field
- Proficient in basic wet lab techniques
- Hands on animal research experience and knowledge of state and federal regulations
- Basic knowledge of electrophysiological techniques
- Experience in electrophysiological testing, performance and analysis of the data is a plus
