Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Engineering Technician to join our team at Virginia Commonwealth University. As an Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for assisting our Equipment Manager with corrective maintenance projects on the Division of Animal Resources' capital equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on various types of equipment owned by DAR, including ventilation systems, steam autoclaves, and wash systems.
  • Manage operations and maintenance of the Hydropac pouch machine and processes under the guidance of the Equipment Manager.
  • Manage and maintain the warehouse under the direction of the Equipment Manager.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience working with mechanical and electrical systems and/or facilities experience.
  • Knowledge of MS office products.
  • Ability to follow both oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to use hand tools and electrical multi-meters.
  • Willingness to work with and around animals in a research environment.
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to drive VCU-owned vehicles.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse and inclusive environment.
