A Production Support Associate will alternate roles based on operational requirements. The role includes responsibilities for feeding materials into machinery and sorting products. Additionally, the associate will be tasked with packaging items, ensuring quality standards are met, and confirming proper sealing of products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Feeding Duties
  • Operate a minimum of four machines, which involves lifting materials, pre-breaking them, and placing them into the feed hopper.
  • All feeders should be capable of managing and maintaining six formers.
  • Remove plastic from loads and handle tickets, ensuring they are delivered to the operator.
  • Monitor product quality, ensuring cartons are aligned and removing any loose scrap as necessary.
  • Oversee the inventory of R.S.C. and supply case packers with the required materials for production.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including GMPs, PPEs, and HACCP & JSA regulations.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Packaging Duties
  • Manage and maintain six lanes of product flow.
  • Retrieve products from forming chutes at designated count marks.
  • Conduct basic quality control checks to ensure defective products are identified and replaced.
  • Verify that products are properly sealed and that the correct quantity is packed into sleeves, completing quality check-off documentation.
  • After quality checks, position products into bags, place bags into cases, and transfer cases onto the conveyor.
  • Assist operators with cleaning glue tips as needed.
  • Relieve fellow packers during breaks and assist with labeling, repacking boxes, and maintaining a tidy workspace.
  • Ensure good housekeeping practices are followed.
  • Comply with all safety regulations, including GMPs, PPEs, and HACCP & JSA standards.
  • Complete other assigned duties as necessary.
  • Prepare and label boxes as required.
  • Refill glue containers for machinery.
  • Maintain a clean work environment.
  • Consult with operators or supervisors regarding any additional tasks that may need attention.
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in packaging within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Dependability and teamwork are essential. Candidates should be able to read, understand, and interpret documents such as safety guidelines, internal quality procedures, and machine operation manuals. Effective communication regarding production and machinery issues is crucial. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment around machinery is necessary, along with basic math skills for counting and performing arithmetic operations.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work Environment: Safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, and steel-toed footwear are mandatory. Additional task-specific PPE may be required.

Physical Requirements: This position necessitates continuous hand and finger usage for positioning, frequent bending and movement, and occasional stationary tasks. It may involve lifting up to 35 pounds and requires strong visual capabilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
