Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at Tumwater School District. As an Evening Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain buildings in a clean, warm, attractive, and functional order
  • Conduct minor maintenance tasks, including operating and caring for tools and equipment
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with school staff, students, and community groups
  • Perform sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing of floors, dusting, emptying and cleaning waste receptacles, washing windows and walls, and moving and arranging furniture and equipment
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, dressing rooms, shower rooms, drinking fountains, kitchens, and maintain overall sanitary conditions of facilities
  • Operate power cleaning equipment and perform other duties as assigned by lead custodian and/or administrator
Requirements
  • High school graduate preferred with demonstrated reading, writing, and math skills acceptable to the District
  • Low Pressure Boiler License and Building Operator Certification required, if applicable
  • State/FBI background clearance required
  • Punctual and dependable, able to work well with others, maintain good health, have ability to perform heavy physical labor, able to lift 100 pounds occasionally, and able to work effectively in tight quarters and at heights
Working Conditions

This is a part-time evening position, working 8 hours a day, 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM. The successful candidate will be required to work independently and as part of a team, with regular communication with the lead custodian and/or administrator.
