Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and reliable Custodian to join our team at Tumwater School District. As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain buildings in a clean, warm, attractive, and functional order
  • Conduct minor maintenance tasks, including operating and caring for tools and equipment
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with school staff, students, and community groups
  • Perform sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing of floors, dusting, emptying and cleaning waste receptacles, washing windows and walls, and moving and arranging furniture and equipment
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, dressing rooms, shower rooms, drinking fountains, kitchens, and maintain overall sanitary conditions of facilities
  • Operate power cleaning equipment and perform other duties as assigned by lead custodian and/or administrator
Requirements
  • Demonstrated basic knowledge and skills of custodial work, including facility maintenance and repair activities
  • Punctual and dependable, able to work well with others, maintain good health, and have ability to perform heavy physical labor
  • Ability to lift 100 pounds occasionally and work effectively in tight quarters and at heights, from lifts and ladders
  • Class IV Boiler License, certificate of completion, or willingness to obtain one, if applicable
  • Building Operator Certification or willingness to obtain, if applicable
Working Conditions

This is a substitute custodian position, and the work schedule will vary depending on the needs of the district. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
