PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the preemptive maintenance of all machinery, components, belts, lubricants, bearings, and more. This role involves the installation, upkeep, and repair of machinery and equipment through the following tasks:

  • Conducting visual inspections and auditory assessments of machines and equipment to identify malfunctions, including testing machinery.
  • Listening for irregular sounds from machines to diagnose issues, discussing operational variations with supervisors or fellow maintenance personnel.
  • Scheduling work effectively to maximize task completion while minimizing disruptions, reducing unscheduled downtime, and enhancing overall plant efficiency.
  • Dismantling defective machinery and equipment, installing new or repaired components.
  • Cleaning and lubricating shafts, bearings, gears, and other machinery parts.
  • Monitoring for visible wear or defects on machinery on a daily basis.
  • Assembling, installing, and maintaining piping systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, repairing and replacing gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and similar components.
  • Setting up and operating machine tools such as drill presses, band saws, and grinders to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools.
  • Utilizing cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal components.
  • Assisting in training others as required.
  • Adhering to safety policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines.
  • Maintaining situational awareness to identify unsafe behaviors and conditions.
  • Completing all necessary paperwork and electronic records accurately and promptly, including repair orders and preventative maintenance records.
  • Ensuring a clean work environment in accordance with our 5S system.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Conducting inventory of maintenance supplies.
  • Assisting with various maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the maintenance shop.
  • Tracking and ordering necessary parts and materials.
  • Performing preventative maintenance on various equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: An Associate's degree or equivalent from a technical school, or one year of relevant manufacturing experience, or a combination of education and experience. Basic computer skills are required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Proficiency in reading and understanding documents, letters, and instructions in English, as well as the ability to communicate clearly.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to perform calculations involving proportions, area, circumference, and volume, and apply basic algebra and geometry concepts.

CERTIFICATIONS: Must obtain certification as a Forklift operator in accordance with company training.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The role requires regular walking, standing, and the use of hands to handle tools and equipment. Frequent lifting of 25 to 75 pounds is necessary, and the ability to perform these tasks for extended periods is essential.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The position may involve exposure to a noisy, dusty atmosphere, requiring appropriate safety gear. The characteristics of the work environment are representative of those encountered while performing essential job functions.
