Job Description:


We are currently seeking an adjunct instructor for our Culinary Management program to deliver courses focused on Culinary Techniques.

This course is designed to equip students with essential culinary skills and the scientific knowledge necessary for success in a professional kitchen.

Students will explore various cooking methods relevant to meats, fish, poultry, starches, and vegetables.

Fundamental cooking techniques will be introduced and practiced in a hands-on laboratory setting, alongside proper methods for preparing stocks, soups, and sauces.

The course will also cover significant applications in hospitality and institutional food service.
The adjunct instructor will be responsible for conducting demonstrations, delivering lectures, creating assessments, and evaluating student performance in relation to established learning objectives. This course includes a practical lab component.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:


Associate degree in Culinary Arts with Bakery Experience or an Associate degree in Pastry/Bakery Arts from an accredited institution or its foreign equivalent.

A minimum of 5 years of professional culinary experience is required.
Previous teaching or training experience is preferred.
Certification as a ServSafe Food Protection Manager is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts or Pastry Arts from an accredited institution or its foreign equivalent.
Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is desirable. Proficiency in English and another language will also be considered.

Additional Information:
Employees are eligible to participate in the NYS Teacher's Retirement System. A background screening will be conducted post-offer. Candidates must provide proof of ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification.

Anticipated Hours:
This course is scheduled for the second half of the semester. Applicants are required to submit an unofficial transcript for their highest degree obtained. Prior to commencing teaching, the successful candidate must present an official transcript for their highest degree received.
