Position Overview
The Service Technician plays a crucial role in planning and coordinating activities related to investigating and resolving customer-reported technical issues with severe service valves. This position aims to eliminate future operational or service challenges by executing the responsibilities outlined below.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field service tasks, including installation, maintenance, and repair/replacement of CCI and Sulzer Valve Products at client facilities. This involves collaborating with customers to guide site maintenance personnel or directly performing necessary maintenance activities.
- Propose design and drawing modifications to the Engineering department and prepare as-built sketches for their review and inclusion in design updates.
- Analyze and evaluate technical challenges, collaborating with Engineering as necessary to develop effective solutions applicable to all severe service control valves.
- Leverage technical product knowledge to assist engineering and sales teams as required.
- Identify opportunities to expand the CCI installed base of valves through replacements, retrofits, or upgrades, coordinating with the Sales Department to maximize visibility for every valve and spare parts opportunity.
- Exercise independent judgment to make decisions without immediate supervision.
- Complete other assignments as needed and ensure timely submission of Expense Reports and Service Reports.
- Instruct and train customers on the proper maintenance and repair of CCI products.
- Advise customers on maintaining adequate spare parts levels and product upgrades, collaborating with the Sales Department to capitalize on these opportunities.
- Troubleshoot issues related to CCI products, determining appropriate repair or replacement methods.
- Manage unexpected challenges that arise during on-site activities, such as missing or incorrect spare parts, urgent repairs, or addressing customer concerns.
- Collaborate with the Engineering Department to rectify design or manufacturing errors.

- 3-6 years of experience in an assembly role or relevant field service experience in an industrial setting.
- Desirable experience in machining or metal removal.
- Associate's degree in a technical field is preferred.
- Familiarity with CCI, BTG Bailey, and Sulzer products.
- Experience in valve and actuator assembly and disassembly.
- Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
- Basic machining skills.
- Understanding of power plant and refinery operations.
- Experience with control system calibration.
- Proficient in computer operations, including Word, Excel, and email.
- Knowledge of various inspection techniques such as Magnetic Particle (MP) and Penetrant Testing (PT).
- Skills in managing on-site field service activities to ensure customer satisfaction and compliance with contractual agreements.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment in analyzing and resolving technical issues related to severe service valves, particularly CCI and Sulzer products. Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time, both domestically and internationally, often on short notice.
- Capable of performing managerial and administrative tasks within the field service team.
- Ability to work independently at customer sites with occasional supervision, including creating documentation of service calls.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair intermediate-level valve issues.
The physical demands of this position require the employee to regularly sit, use hands for manipulation, and communicate effectively. Occasionally, the employee may need to stand, walk, reach, climb, or stoop. The role may require lifting and moving up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The work environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions, high places, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level may range from moderate in office settings to loud in manufacturing environments.
