    • Drawing up 3D models and layout drawings for complex material handling systems independently or with others.
    • Oversee MHE layout engineering team's work and priorities, review progress and ensure work performed is done to acceptable level of detail and technical requirements.
  • Project Management
    • Create and supervise 3D models using Vanderlande's material handling systems, 3rd party vendor equipment, and if necessary using other common and less common MHE equipment to meet the targeted system performance and client requirements.
    • Refine the design and layout to fit space constraints and manage multiple objectives from project team and client staff to find an optimal solution balancing the conflicting needs of the multiple groups.
  • Team Leadership
    • Create and supervise the development of 3D models and layout drawings for mezzanines, operator positions, maintenance access, equipment supports, and header steel that may impact the system.

    • Analyze and optimize system product flow to translate into suitable equipment and ensure reliable performance of material handling systems.
  • Process Improvement
    • Utilize knowledge of Vanderlande's equipment, design rules, custom blocks, software, and interaction between process phases to ensure 3D designs are properly installed in project sites.
    • Monitor MHE design through project life cycle and implement changes made during the sales, engineering, installation, and commissioning phases to ensure best practices are captured and lessons learned are integrated in a continuous improvement framework.
  • Collaboration
    • Act as primary liaison for layout engineering work done by the team with global and corporate peers in other sales offices, driving medium to long-term process improvement in accuracy and efficiency.
    • Look for process improvements for the layout engineering team to improve workflow, efficiency, timeliness, quality, and accuracy of deliverables to other functional areas.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years experience working with complex automated and semi-automated MHE systems. Past experience must be in either the design, engineering, or specification of such systems.
  • 5+ years experience (SE1) working on large (>75M) to very large projects (>150M) as either a team lead or senior engineering role. (10+ years experience (Sr LE))
